Summer is Here at the Swan
So for the first time in what seems like ages, I am writing this at The Swan, doors still flung open, soft evening light bathing the garden, and bottles of our wonderful A Mano Rosato (Rosé) Wine of the Month flying out. It seemed a long time coming, but we’re safe to say summer is finally here, and we have had a cracking start to it.
We are delighted to welcome Luke (another one) to our team, as Deputy Manager. Make sure you stop by for a drink with him soon, we are sure you will warm to him as much as we have. In addition, we also welcome the lovely Brittney to the Swan, from our sister pub The Black Horse in Woburn. And let’s not forget Lilly who joins us on the bar team. Very happy to have them with us.
Of course I also had my beautiful baby Isabelle – also a new face – and she continues to delight us.
Simon and Chris’ Inaugural Golf Day
Over a pint a few months back, Chris Hall (one of our most charming of regulars) and I hatched a plan to begin a tri annual Swan Golf Day. We ended up with just under 20 chaps, and with the wonderful support of Wavendon Golf Course, we had a cracking day! Despite a brief shower on the first tee, we had the most clement of weather, some brilliant and terrible golf shots and then a bloody good chicken and chorizo stew back at the Swan. Even better, my Swan and Black Horse team won the team event – mainly thanks to Derek keeping us so thoroughly entertained with his bugel playing on the way round. He also managed to hit a goose with a particularly interesting shot. I am pleased to say the goose was not harmed!!
It really was a fantastic day and we have scheduled the next one for 23rd September. Get in touch with me if you fancy putting together a team of 4 to join us.
Looking ahead
Following the incredible success of the first Swan Garden Party in May, we are preparing for our next one on Sunday 31st July. Live music, garden games, a gin bar and a wonderful giant paella pan will be the features. There is no ticket for entry – just come along and grab a blanket for the grass if you aren’t lucky enough to nab one of our outside tables.
I very much look forward to seeing you at the Swan soon, in summer dress, with your shades on!!
